The 6’4, 331-pounder has four seasons of eligibility remaining.
Out of Cypress Bridgeland in the 2025 recruiting class, Newman picked up an offer from Texas after taking unofficial visits to Austin and College Station, committing to Texas A&M before the summer visit period and signing with the Aggies in December. Other offers included Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor, Cal, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, TCU, Tennessee, Texas Tech, and USC. A consensus four-star prospect, Newman was ranked as the No. 346 player nationally and the No. 20 interior offensive lineman, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Newman played seven snaps at right tackle against Samford while redshirting during his only season in Aggieland after gaining almost 50 pounds from his listed weight in high school, profiling as a developmental swing take for the Horns who may need to provide immediate depth due to attrition at the position.
For Texas offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Kyle Flood, Newman is the second portal commitment this month, joining Oregon State transfer guard Dylan Sikorski.
