Anthony Edwards Leads Timberwolves to Convincing Win Over Heat
The Minnesota Timberwolves secured their third consecutive victory on Tuesday night, decisively beating the Miami Heat 122-94 at home. This marked their second win over Miami in a four-day span, following a victory on Saturday.
Anthony Edwards, who was listed as questionable before the game with a foot injury, silenced any concerns by scoring a game-high 26 points. He knocked down five three-pointers and went 5-for-6 from the free-throw line. His performance was only tempered by foul trouble, which limited his minutes in the first and third quarters.
The Timberwolves received balanced contributions across the roster. Jaden McDaniels added 19 points, while Rudy Gobert controlled the paint with 13 points and 17 rebounds. Julius Randle recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, including a crucial deep three-pointer late in the third quarter that helped extend the lead.
For the Miami Heat, Norman Powell led the scoring with 21 points. Tyler Herro returned from an 11-game absence due to a toe injury, contributing 17 points off the bench—a rare reserve role for him in recent seasons.
Minnesota methodically built its advantage after taking a seven-point lead into halftime. A strong close to the third quarter, highlighted by Randle's three and two quick threes from Dante DiVincenzo, pushed the lead to 16 points entering the final period. The Timberwolves' dominance allowed both teams to empty their benches with over four minutes remaining.
The Heat will look to regroup on the road against the Chicago Bulls on Thursday. The Timberwolves, meanwhile, will aim to extend their winning streak when they host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night.
