UConn basketball coach Dan Hurley lauds freshman Braylon Mullins, an Indiana Mr. Basketball winner

Braylon Mullins is the kind of player UConn basketball coach Dan Hurley yearns for.

The 2025 Indiana Mr. Basketball winner from Greenfield-Central High School averages 11.7 points per game on 37.9% 3-point shooting for the No. 4 Huskies (17-1, 7-0 Big East).

Hurley joined the "Field of 68" podcast late Tuesday after UConn beat Seton Hall 69-64. Mullins had 11 points and 3 steals.

"He's just an Indiana boy. He just wants to play hoops, shoot hoops, drink a bee- ... I don't know if he's underage," Hurley said, drawing laughs from panelists.

"He's not like a drama queen freshman that could sink your team (with NBA Draft or agent agendas). He's a reliable defensive player," Hurley said, anticipating improvement through the season.

Mullins is considered a likely first-round 2026 draft pick.

"He's not complicated. He lets you coach him. He's, 'Yes, coach.' 'Sorry, coach.' Those are the type of freshmen you have to put in."

"He just wants to play hoops and drink a bee-- well, he's still underage. But he's just a ball player. Not a drama queen who could sink your team. He's just reliable"
