Cooper Flagg leaves Mavericks' loss to Nuggets with sprained ankle
Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, left Wednesday's 118-109 loss to the Denver Nuggets after spraining his left ankle.
Injury Details
Head coach Jason Kidd said Flagg initially injured the same foot during Monday's game against Brooklyn. The issue worsened with 6:01 remaining in the second quarter against Denver when Flagg landed awkwardly, visibly grimacing in pain. He briefly returned to the floor but was clearly hampered and did not play in the second half. Mavericks center Daniel Gafford also exited the contest with an ankle injury.
Flagg's Rookie Season Impact
Despite Dallas's overall struggles, Flagg has been a standout performer, averaging 19.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. He remains the frontrunner for the Rookie of the Year award. The team will provide further updates on the severity of his ankle sprain and a potential timeline for his return.
