Australian Open odds: Sinner, Sabalenka remain favorites entering second round
The Australian Open rolls into the second round with Jannik Sinner as odds-on favorite to win his third consecutive men's title. Sinner defeated Hugo Gaston 6-2, 6-1 before the Frenchman retired with an injury. Top-seeded Carlos Alcaraz won his opening match 6-3, 7-6, 6-2 against Adam Walton. Sinner defeated Alexander Zverev in the final to defend his title last year.
Aryna Sabalenka the favorite on the women's side after a runner-up finish last year. She defeated Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah 6-4, 6-1 in the first round. Defending champion Madison Keys, who won her first Grand Slam title by beating Sabalenka in the women's final last year, also moved on, beating Oleksandra Oliynykova 7-6, 6-1.
The women's singles final will be held on Saturday, Jan. 31, while the men's final will be settled Sunday, Feb. 1.
