Memphis football's quarterback room just got stronger.
South Carolina transfer quarterback Air Noland has signed with Memphis out of the transfer portal, the team announced Jan. 13. Noland was a four-star recruit and was ranked as the No. 7 QB in his class, according to the 247Sports Composite.
He committed to Ohio State out of high school and spent the 2024 season with the Buckeyes. But he was deep on the Ohio State depth chart and left for South Carolina after the season. He spent the 2025 season with the Gamecocks but only appeared briefly to throw three passes.
Now he's headed to Memphis, and the Tigers need a new starter for the 2026 season after Brendon Lewis exhausted his eligibility and AJ Hill and Arrington Maiden left in the transfer portal. New coach Charles Huff has already brought in West Florida transfer Marcus Stokes, who was highly productive at the Division II level. Southern Miss transfer Denzel Gardner is also joining the room.
Noland's first name is Prentiss, but his middle name is Air and that's what he's been known by throughout his career.
He's listed at 6-foot-3, 225 pounds and has three seasons of eligibility remaining.
